addicted

overcast skies are predicted
by those who are addicted
to plaintive blues
of which i am afflicted,
one of the rules
of which is to start thinking
about scenarios that'll bury you:
like the moon suddenly slipping
and the menfolk all taking to drinking
and the stars just stop twinkling.
